2014

This installation was created during Back in Five Minutes, a residency program as part of Office Hours, (a project by Nicolás Dumit Estevez Raful) in the galleries of El Museo del Barrio. It includes three artworks: The Source, a wall stencil based on an Olmeca design showing reverence for water life and using the image of a net and aquatic life; Market Bag, a sculpture made from crocheted used plastic bags and modeled after the straw shopping bags that one commonly brought to market in Mexico; and Curtains (version 2) made from crocheted used plastic bags, using the filet crochet technique for two texts--USE YOUR OWN BAG and REFUSE PLASTIC.
